Event Platforms

Alumni relations has gone virtual! From Facebook to Instagram to Twitter and beyond, interactions among alumni and with the institution are through an electronic device. Meetings and events have to respond to the demands of the times as well. There are an increasing number of options for holding virtual meetings and events that are (almost) as engaging as being in a room together. Virtual events have a huge advantage in eliminating the need for travel and reducing the amount of time needed to be a participant or attendee.

If you are thinking of offering a book club for your alumni either through the alumni association or an affinity group, check out PBC Guru, a virtual book club management and facilitation platform. They support all aspects of communications and the group discussion. Impactrics recommends using a book by an alum to strengthen engagement.

Event management from marketing to registration to tracking to follow-up needs technological support. Many of the platforms for networking and community have an events feature - ideal for keeping information organized and accessible. If you need an event management platform as well, cvent offers a few different platforms as they have bought various competitors. Eventbrite is a useful tool for free events (no funds to pay for technology) when you are starting out. If you have other ideas, please send them to add to the list.

For virtual events there is:

Brazen

Google Meets/Hangouts

Microsoft Teams

Shindig

Skype

Webex

Whereby

Zoom

Please send more ideas to be included in this list.
